I've had this filing cabinet and matching desk for about 6 months. Both are still in great shape and are very well made. The top piece of wood is at least an inch thick and is very heavy. The entire cabinet weighs about 100 pounds, but the advantage is that you get a high quality piece. My girlfriend sits on the filing cabinet when I'm working at my desk and doesn't even budge. My only complaint was a damaged piece and Bush Furniture customer service sent me a replacement for free with 2 day express shipping, no questions asked. After that I would definitely stick with Bush Furniture for future purchases.

I ordered the lateral cabinet, desk, and hutch. The cabinet arrived first and I assembled it on my own tonight. It took me about 3 hours taking my time with it. I found the assembly very easy to follow: lay out the pieces and match up the ID numbers for each step. The instructions and graphics were easy to follow. The only part that tripped me up was getting the inside track for the drawer right side up. My only critique is that the screws are a bit soft and will strip if you don't use enough downward pressure when screwing in. The finished piece looks sophisticated and of better quality than "self-assembly" office furniture counterparts. The pieces are *heavy* and super sturdy.

I'm not sure about another reviewer's comment about insufficient wood glue. I thoroughly coated each of the wooden pegs and still have some left.

Be prepared for 3 - 4 fours assembly. You must watch carefully, and read every part by 7 digit manufacturing number - there are about 18 different parts, many look a like, no color coding, pictures in instructions are difficult.

I called in a friend who's more construction minded -- we are 3 hours in and a long way from finished and frustrated enough that I stopped to write this and to figure out what to do about the parts that we do not have but need to finish. Already made one trip to store after the tiny tube of glue in this kit ran out.

I bought a similar cabinet at target for someone else a while back, was finished and looked great in 2 hours.
